    1989 Honda aaccord w carburator hard to start in am looses prime at carburator

    my 1989 Honda Accord is hard to start think carb loses prime

    Sounds like a leaky needle & seat to me.A carby overhaul could cost you $300 upwards.Try finding another carby at a motor wrecker maybe.Good luck!


     

    Try spraying the interior of carburetor with some carburetor cleaner and observe if the performance improves.


    After doing so, if the performancehas NOT improved, spray the OUTSIDE  of the carburetor, if the cleaner is sucked INTO the carburetor, it needs to be rebuilt.


    On a vehicle  that old, that may well be the only cure for the problem.


     


     


     


     

    Bad pump IN the carburetor. Good luck with that problem, those carbs are a bear to rebuild. Look for another car.
