    If your still married but have been seperated for years, do you have to put your spouses name and soc. security number on your taxes?

    It's my understanding that you must put married filing separate.   This site answers that question:  http://www.irs.gov/publications/p501/ar02.html#en_US_2011_publink1000220722


    page down to "filing status"

    #1. If you've been separated for years you've been filing taxes.   What have you done in the past ???


    #2.  I guess you've been filing as a single individual so there probably only  needs your info on the form.


    $3.  You can call the IRS and ask them.
