      A fly has two eyes, however each eye has many different facets.

        A fly has two eyes, one each side of its head. Each eye is a compound eye, meaning the same facet in repeated 800 times( for fruit flys) each facet is called an ammatidia or simple eye. Each ammatidia is is composed of set of photoreceptor that detects light.
