Check your system settings for sound input and verify that you have selected the appropriate input, i.e Analogue or digital and any other parameters that could be the cause (left and right channel and volume). If you can find no fault then I would click on the Skype FaQ or help link for further information. Also, any Skype website forum may be able to help you.
