Most plastics can be recycled, the common name for it in Australia is "Rechip"
The plastic. as you ask, is ground up into granules then reused for new products.
The normal practice is to use "rechip" for lesser grade products, for example to make garden hoses, electrical cable conduit and other products where the colour consistency is not of great importance.
