Scanning to a computer requires a scanner and cannot be done by a printer. Every scanner has a software that has to be installed on the computer to which one wishes the scanned pictures files to be saves to. By running the software, while the scanner is connected to a computer, one can go through the steps of scanning papers or pictures.

You do realize they have printers that have scanning capabilities allowing people to save the information on their computers don't you? They also have printers you can fax with!
