Both SD (Secure Digital) and SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) are non-volatile (doesn’t require an energy source in order to be used) memory cards. SDHC has higher capacities: 4 to 32 gigabytes, while SD cards have 1 to 4 gigabytes.

A 4 gigabyte card may hold a number of pictures in accordance to the number of Megapixels that is being used:

    At 2 Megapixels 4476
    At 3 Megapixels 3984
    At 5 Megapixels 1580
    At 8 Megapixels 1160
    At 10 Megapixels 884
