you're asking a complicated question........but i'll try to simplify it. If you're talking about baby Christian baptism, it's a draw back to when many babies didn't live to be 12 yrs old. So, the church and the parents were committing the baby to God and asking God to bless the baby, so that if something happened to the baby, he/ she would go to heaven. Two days ago, a younger friend of mine lost her baby. She was 5 months preg, and he was born. He only lived about 4 hours.
