    In their embalming process, the ancient Egyptians used a mixture of substances, including methanol, which they obtained from the pyrolysis of wood.

    …and all this time I thought they used it to move large blocks of stone great distances. HaHa 

    I thought maybe to run the chariots!  Or perhaps to jet up and down the Nile in powered longboats.
