Duck eat duck weed and cary it with them when they go from pond to pond. If there is no duck weed in your pond ducks won't show up very often. I found living with duck weed we preferable to living without ducks. Also having fish in your pond like Bass lets you fish for your bass in the spring after the ice is off and the duck weed is down. It's a compromise that works for me.
