I have been exposed to lead paint, asbestos and highly toxic mold and spores in an old 1920's building I was renting for my business I was in there for 3 years with no heating or air. The ceiling caved in from the second of three stories and raw sewage just poured for two days into my building. It was never cleaned up just pipes reconnected with glue. Ceiling was left open this was 2 years ago then in october the rest of the ceiling caved in with sewage and my store and inventory was flooded.

I have chest exrays showing my lungs are okay but my bronchytis keps coming back and my airpassage is definitely causeing problems breathing and swallowing. Peple are not trained or aware of the effects of toxic mold and lead poisioning here or anywhere It is a deadly disease but the doctors just say there is mold every where. They didn't experience the ceiling caving in twice and the substances I inhaled over a long period of time

Being you had knowledge of exposure an you kept renting this place I don't think you'll be entitled to much or none due to any health issues because of the prior knowledge of a sick building but, you should get a small claims for your losses from the sewage/water damage you suffered financially.
Why you ever continued to stay in an environment like that and even more so why the city didn't shut it down is beyond me. I have a client that has breathing problems due to mold spores the rest of her life as well. A few years ago they discovered a mold that is found in the forests around here and certain people with weaknesses in the lungs are susceptible to it. It is known to get bad enough to cause death. Maybe you can google mold spores found on Vancouver Island forests and find specialists that can give you the information you are seeking.Good luck but the next time you find yourself in a situation like that maybe using better senses will get you out sooner the next time!
