        Well with the invention of cable t.v., you can watch all news channels and/or all weather channels. It is news when your area is expecting serious weather, during the hurricanes here in S.FL we are constantly watching the news channels that cover what's happening during and after the storm. If you don't have a generator you can listen to the weather/news on the radio, it's very helpful.
