In your private car, there should be no need for you to carry such an item, and can't imagine why you would need additional insurance for doing so. I would, however, restrict its use to family members who have waived their right to compensation of any sort if they are injured in use of the lift.
I watched a video and don't really understand how this would be useful in everyday car travel.
