Air travel is safer-- Want to compare statistics??  You stand a better chance of wrecking your car within 25 miles of your home than an airliner traveling 8,000 miles being involved in a mishap.

Even now they still say you're safer getting in an airplane than your car for a ride around where you live . I heard that just the other day . The thing is, tho, that you're likely to survive a car wreck, but if your plane  crashes, it's lights out !  End of story !

Sadly though, some people that survive car crashes have nothing left but consciousness, some worse, comatose. My bro in law was in car accident and in a coma one year almost to the day. Totally gone but alive. I do agree though, air crashes usually result in total loss of life if at altitude. Some 'controlled crashes' people do survive. SFO flight 214, 181 made it, 3 died, one died as a result of the emergency truck running over her twice.
