Many people are suddenly "believers" if they think that it could be to their advantage. Of course, all prisoners are honest and truthful so the "stats" must surely be accurate!

Because many men do not turn religious until after they go to prison.

Actually, it's because atheist only make up about 10% to 12% of the U.S. population. There are simply fewer of them to commit crimes. It's a matter of statistics, not philosophy.

maybe they feel that this is all there is, so they better be good and have fun and freedom while they're alive.

cuz there anin't no atheists in the foxholes in prison. It rough out there in the trenches outside in the prison yard. Besides, they are afraid of going to hell for all their misdeeds, so they make friends with God.

Beside, I think atheism is only for the loftier, more intellectual , scientic type. Which most inmates aren't
