    my husband who is 71 years old has developed reddish/purple marks on his arms, what could they be?

    He has mild diabetes and does drink alcohol every day.

    I get them, too. For me it's a vitamin D problem.  I'm 56 and they didn't start showing up til I hit about 53. I beleive they are an age thing..........

    could be broken cappilaries or poor circulation. Both conditions could be caused by too much smoking and drinking. And not taking care of his diabetes.
