y=3x-6
You can give x a value and make points. Then graph the points and draw a line.
x y
1 y = 3(1) - 6 = -3 > (1, -3)
2 y = 3(2) - 6 = 0 > (2, 0)
3 y = 3(3) - 6 = 3 > (3, 3)
Or, you can graph the equation as it is written. The slope is: m = 3 and the y-intercept is: b = -6.
Do the y-intercept first (-6). On the y-axis, go down to -6. Then do the slope (3). Go up 3 and one place to the right (x). From that point, go up 3 and to the right one. Repeat the cycle at least 3 times, up 3 and to the right one, then draw a line.
Either way, you'll come out with the same graph.
