Vaasthu Sastra - The Main Door Frame - Installation

The Main Door and the Main Door Frame are considered as places of sanctity where Goddess Mahalakshmi resides. This Door Frame should be installed with enough of sanctity and devotion and should be maintained with care.

There is a procedure which should be followed in installing the Main Door Frame. The Main Door Frame is the wooden frame already manufactured and kept ready for installation on the opening in the wall, earmarked for the Main Door.

The basic requirement is the Vaasthu Time. This is not a Subha Muhurtham that are looked for performing auspicious functions like Marriage, Ear Boring Ceremony etc.

Vaasthu Time is totally different. Vaasthu Purusha is considered to be awake only for just for around 30 to 35 minutes in a month. Vaasthu Time will be available for 10 months in an year. Altogether, there will be only 10 half hour times available for performing Vaasthu related formalities.

Vaasthu Timing can be ascertained from the Panjangams and most of the Calendars. In a Daily Sheet Calendar Vaasthu Time is normally printed on the back side.

Select a Vaasthu Time and perform the installation of Main Door strictly within that time. You should collect and keep everything ready for performing the whole process within the given time of around 35 minutes. It is desirable that you complete the installation even some 5 minutes before the Vaasthu Time ends. And you should commence the installation activities just as soon as the Vaasthu Time commences and not earlier than that.

You can seek the help of the Contractor or Builder to provide and keep ready a Mason and necessary helpers with Cement Morter to fix up the Main Door Frame in place as soon as the Pooja formalities are over.

Also seek the presence of 5 Sumangali Ladies (Married Women), who will be present at that time, touch the Main Door Frame in a gesture of lifting it (which will then be fixed in its proper place by the Masons present.

The Main Door Frame should be kept leaning on the nearby wall facing either the East or North direction.

Purchase the Panchaloga and Navaratna well in advance and keep ready, which should be spread across the bottom of the Main Door Frame.

Collect as many five rupee coins as possible which should be spread across the bottom of the Main Door Frame.

Purchase 3 or 5 pieces of Blouse Bits which should be tied to a rope at the top of the Main Door Frame.

Keep the Pooja Materials and Naivedyam Materials like, Kuthu Vilakku with all the 5 faces lighted up, Chandan (Sandal) and Kum Kum (Kungumam) which should be attired to the Main Door Frame - one dot in the centre of the top raft of the Main Door Frame and each one dot on all the four corners of the Main Door Frame. Doop sticks, Sambirani, Karpooram (Camphor), Banana Fruits, opened Coconut (both the shelves), Jaggery, Rice Corn (Pori), Beetel & Nut, (Kumkum, Flowers in a separate vessel) and whatever the items that you want to submit to Goddess Mahalakshmi and spread them across a Banana Leaf.

Garland the Main Door Frame and also tie up a Mavilai Kothu (Bunch of Mango Leaves).

Organise 5 Sumangali Ladies (Married Women).

Five potsful of water. (Tanneer Kudams with water) should be kept outside the House or Flat.

Now, you have had the Main Door Frame leaning on the nearby wall facing East or North.

You have placed Chandan and Kumkum dots on the top centre and the four corners of the Main Door Frame.

You have tied up 3 or 5 coloured Blouse Bits to a rope tied in the top of the Main Door Frame. Garlanded it with Flower Mala and Mavilai Kothu.

You have kept a Banana Leaf before the Main Door Frame and spread all the Neivedyam you want to submit to Goddess Mahalakshmi on the Banana Leaf.

Karpoora Harathi holder is ready with Karpooram placed (Camphor) placed on it.

You have kept the 5 Kudams (Water Pots) filled with water outside the house (but close to the Doorway).

You have lighted up the Doopsticks and all the 5 faces of the Kuthu Vilakku.

The 5 Sumangali Ladies are readily waiting and the Masons are waiting.

Dollars with Shree Vigneshwar & Shree Mahalakshmi Images are ready.

Genuine Panjaloga pieces including Gold & Silver cut pieces & Genuine Navaratna are ready.

A good number of five rupee coins are ready.

The Doorway is kept ready by the Masons with a wet cement mortar base and the side walls.

When the Vaasthu Time commences, perform Neivedyam to the Main Door Frame, show Karpoora Harathi, pray Lord Maha Ganapathi and Goddess Mahalashmi, spread the Panchaloga and Navaratna pieces on the wet cement on the base of the Doorway, fix the Maha Ganapathi Dollar and Mahalakshmi Dollar on the side bottoms of the Doorway, spread the 5 rupee coins on the entire stretch of the base of the Doorway in a line.

Ask the 5 Sumangali Ladies to touch the Main Door Frame as a token gesture and let the Masons lift the Main Door Frame and fix it in its place in the Doorway.

When the Masons have fixed the Main Door Frame, request the 5 Sumangali Ladies to bring in the 5 potsful of water inside the house and keep them in the South West Corner of the house.

Honour the Masons with adequate payments. The coloured cloth tied to the Main Door Frame will be taken by the Masons.

Honour the 5 Sumangali Ladies with Thamboolam, Blouse Bits & Money.

The 5 potsful water kept in the South West should be poured on the ground in the North East Corner.

These all the procedure which should be followed in performing the Installation of Main Door Frame.
