Why do most women wear only black and gray ? or just black all the time.

- - - -when they're not wearing jeans. Maybe it's only a regional thing; but most women in Mich. and Ohio wear only black and gray or grey .

Black is classic, it is slimming and it goes with everything. As a woman gets older in age, the reasonable thing is always spending less money as honestly, you don't know when your last day will be.... everything going with everything is sensible.

That is what I have been told by women who are older than me. "Cut down on expenses. Look good when you walk out the door." 'Simplicity' is also part of the process.

Black, grey, white and out the door you go.

Also, wash all of your whites by hand and use the product that has "Oxy" on the label. A person does want their whites to stay white for as long as possible.

I wondered about this years ago. I worked retail, thousands of customers... And honestly, those are the answers I received. :).
.... The colour is in the accessories.

Now, at this age, I do exactly that ... And it works.

I am so glad I asked in my 20's.

Literally you are never out of place and it is easy.

I must not follow the norm, MCM.

See the pair of paisley print Capri pants below. I have a pair of these, but they are bright orange and bright green and I wear them with a bright orange shirt.

Below is another shirt I wear. The only difference between my shirt and the one pictured it my shirt has bright red roses instead of pink roses.

The two pics above are to give you an idea of the type of clothes and colours that I enjoy wearing. Yes, I'm 50.

@ Tommyh. It's a top with a handkerchief hemline. (A hemline formed by panels of fabric which fall in points resembling the corners of a handkerchief, It pulls the focus away from the thighs and hips, elongating the bottom half of the body.
