No. Not really Jules.... if you can call waiting until the next time a reprieve... sounds more like prolonging the agony....

They abolished the gas chamber in many places to avoid this kind of thing. Some people took an hour to die in the chamber.I am neither pro nor anti the death penalty but no-one deserves to die like that.

I have often felt that forcing a long life of confinement upon the worst criminals is a viable way of exacting revenge...very costly though and considered cruel and unusual. My Paw used to go down with the other kids to the old Fort Saskatchewan jail... a horrendous prison where a farmer once said wasn't fit for cattle nor pigs... the boys would climb the stone wall to watch the hangings... my Paw said he only ever needed to see it once.

We have just had a murder resolved here in Brisbane.A local real estate agent who murdered his wife & dumped her body in a creek. He was found guilty & received "Life".In this state that can mean as little as 15 years.I still think there is something wrong with that.Life should mean for the rest of your natural life, never to be released.15 years is nothing. Many murderers can spend that long on death row & still be executed.

In Canada time served can amount to as little as 18 months [with a good behavioural record] on charges of manslaughter which equates to murder does it not? Just pitiful.
I agree with actual 'life' in prison but there exist crimes so unforgiveable as to warrant capital punishment... indeed.

I tend to agree. The case I mentioned disgusted me not only because he killed his wife but just as much as tha dispicable way he disposed of her.Like she was a piece of trash. There are 3 little girls now without a mother (Or a father,as if anyone would want him for a father).

Normally when a judge passes sentence in the case of an execution, it is until you are pronounce dead, even if it means doing it again.

    Exactly right Kent.
