My retirement age has been raised to 66 here in the UK, it's all about the MONEY mate, my son will need to work until he's 72 before he receives his pension.

Money that we earn and pay for is being spent by bad governments that only have self serving policies and don't consider the populace.

My pension is all bought and paid for, they raised the bar last year, thankfully I fall into the "lucky" category, future Govs will possibly raise it even higher.
Would you want a 75 year old firefighter attending a fire trying to save your life?

Firefighters and police retire at 50 at least in the UK. How about teachers aged 70, could they cope with modern kids brought up by slack parents with no discipline?

Are you still living in the UK nom?.
    Get up to date mate!

They are raising the retirement limit for firefighters and police in 2017 to 70 in the UK,your mates nephew is one of the lucky ones.

    Thanks for the info Romos.
I wonder how many firefighters die in action before the authorities realise that a 70 year old fireman is a danger to himself and probably the public also.

My thoughts exactly, I don't think a 70 year old Firefighter would make it up the stairs to my flat fast enough to save ME!

I can picture the old firefighter, wearing the oxygen, taking it off, reviving a patient, then wearing it on his ride back to the station! And it must be difficult to climb a ladder with a walker!

70 is a bit old to retire, don't you think? Doesn't leave much time to sit back and smell the roses.

i can not get a job at 63,,,it doesn't make sense,,,

I think it is a bit old. It doesn't give a person much time to enjoy their retirement- - -like they would at 55 or 60 . And here in the U.S., cancer has reached epidemic proportions.
