    Pretty easy.

Listen in class, if your teacher is boring, tell him/her.

Maybe tell the teacher one on one, otherwise it would be a set up of the class to make you get into a jamb. Ask the teacher to speak after class and speak honestly, if needed, telling them that they are not really reaching the students.

I always found a face to face method benefited ME when I was at school, not confrontational, just "adult".

and as the teach, I know that the kid confronting in front of his peers would not help anyone... Especially the teacher, imagine first year teacher of high school, or middle school snot nose punks... Not fun...

I admired my math teacher(old guy)I failed my first maths exam, he told my Mother I should re-sit, I did, and failed again.
I joined the Royal Navy and passed everything.
    Something must have rubbed off.

I flunked Calculus and then dropped it next time, later tried again and went to speak with the prof. when he heard I was to drop it again, he told me to hang in there. He put an star beside my name, and said it would remind him that I would come each week to work with him in his office. We spoke of his life in Pakistan and of agriculture, my major. Later, at finals, he fell asleep, the class cheated, I not knowing enough on the subject to even have any advantage like that, I put a note, remember me, with the star! Had to meet with him for term grade, and he asked me about my comment, I told him he fell asleep, and an honest F is what I deserved, He gave me a D for the class, I finally passed. Never needed it yet, and may not ever.

I've never really shown ANY of my qualifications as regards jobs etc, but the knowledge gained from them has always been useful throughout my life.

      6  + 2b    =   15 + 5b

    - 15 - 2b  =  - 15  - 2b

I knew you would get this when I saw it……...

    6+2b=15+5b

You want to get "like" terms on the same side of the equals sign.
    6 + 2b   - 6 = 15 + 5b - 6   (What I do on one side of the equals sign I must do on the other to keep them equal.

If I subtract 6 from the left, I subtract it from the right.  Now, on the left, I have only 2b.  On the right, I have 9 (15 - 6) + 5b

    Now, let's get the "b" together on the OPPOSITE side of the 9.  I have to subtract 5b from BOTH sides.  2b - 5b = 9 + 5b - 5b

    NOW, i have -3b = 9
To find out what "b" is, I must finally divide by 3.  I'll have to divide 9 by 3, too, to keep my equation in balance:   -3b/3 = 9/3

    -b = 3, b = -3.    Plug in -3 where "b" is and see if you're right!

    6 + 2(-3) = 15 + 5(-3)
    6 + (-6) = 15 + (-15)

0 = 0     Looks like we got it right!   :D

Good explanation, Bob/PKB! Checking problems to see if the answer is right is ALWAYS an good idea.

Always, especially before posting an answer here! :D

    6+2b = 15+5b

    2 1/2  (6+2b) = 15+5b

    Just 2 1/2
