    Blood pressure is the amount of exertion provided by the heart (the point it works hardest) against the least amount (w/o being dead….). Your heart is woking hard and relaxing a lot…….

    first, contact you Dr. and ask him/her these questions. But, just off hand, as a former  LPN, I'll tell you that we are more concerned about the bottom #  than we are the top number. If the bottom # is acceptable, you can usaully get the top # down by diet and exercise.

    The diastolic is the most important reading as indicates hearts resting levels..but as mcm says consult your Dr to explain it further
