It really depends on what you are looking for. Each has its own characteristics that make them more appealing in some circumstances. Plasma is the most common, cheapest, and heaviest. Plasma is also most susceptible to reflection from light coming through windows, etc.
LCD is less prone to problems with light reflection supposedly (Personally, I think that's a matter of opinion).
LED is the most energy efficient and possibly the more expensive.
It's all a matter of what you want to spend, as all the big screen televisions are fairly good. The one thing most of them seem to lack though, is high quality sound to match the picture.
Whatever you do, keep in mind that 1080 pixels works well if you appreciate high definition television. Less pixels than that and you tend to be buying yesterday's technology. 1080p is also really nice if you are going to hook up a Blu Ray player to it...it really make the picture stand out.
