I removed the mean comments. Lucky for you I am here so you don't have see them. One such comment was a direct attack on all women. NOT ALLOWED. I cut as much slack as needed here. This question is still here, isn't it? The rest that does not belong gets removed. You've been here a month. Stick around and see just how much more freedom the people of this forum get compared to all the other moderated forums out there.

Please reply to questions one time. I know you get a lot of karma for these pictures but some see it as cheating to continue to post new answers just for the karma points. Post all your pictures out at one time but please limit the amount so they do not fill an entire page. Thank you. I did delete your third and fourth pictures. I'm glad you said why are some woman stupid, i tend to agree with you Sniper889, yes there are some women that are stupid, they are the ones that stay in an abusive relationship, The most stupid are the ones that think they have found love on the internet and hand over thier life savings to this wonderful man who has come into thier life, only to find out they were being conned .That is what you call stupid.

I don't think abused women are stupid. They are scared and even brainwashed into believing they can not leave.
Women who give up money to strangers are victims of low self esteem. Quite possibly no one ever treated them right. They are lonely and desperate. Stupid? Not so sure. Everyone just wants to be loved, some want it so bad, they will pay for it.

I don't have to read up on it, i have seen first hand in my complex where i live that 3 women left thier spouse/partners, they were re-housed with thier children,2 of the women came running back after a few weeks for more punishment.Here in Australia there is so much help given to battered women,they only have to ask and they are taken very good care of.

The trouble with abused women (and I have experienced this first hand) is that they are beaten into believing they are useless and worthless and they exist only because their abuser allows them to exist. It becomes a mental issue, one that tells the woman that she can not survive without her abuser. It's not easy, it's like having anorexia, where a person perceives them self to be hugely fat while the rest of the world sees them as skin and bone and close to killing themselves. The anorexic person does not see them self or their life the way others do. The same goes for abuse victims. They are confused and scared, not stupid in my opinion.

It is not stupidity that keeps a person in an abusive relationship. It is fear, low self esteem and conditioning. The abuse happens incrementally over a long period of time, slowly increasing until there are trigger points within the abused woman. At this point not much needs to be said... a look, rage, a raised fist, one small word... The depression of the abused woman is astronomical. A numbness sets in and thoughts such as, "I wonder if I just took the car into the side of this bridge... Would I go over the edge and die?... Oh I have the kids to think about..."
It is beyond difficult to leave. It is impossible to think you could survive without the abuser. How could you survive...You are worthless, you are stupid and you are nothing without your abusive husband... The cycle continues over and over and over and over and over until the woman is very disconected to who she is or ever was.
If a woman leaves and comes back... it is because of fear... fear of the unknown, fear of the difference and a very big fear of not being able to handle things on her own. Quite often these women suffer with anxiety attacks that make it impossible to function.

My mother used to say, "Better the devil you know instead of the devil you don't know."

Many of these women grew up in homes with abusive fathers... why should their life be any different?

@Ducka... You are absolutely right. It is a blessing if a woman can get out and stay out. It is a lot of work finding yourself again. :)

You have all made very good points in regards to a big problem with society today. Low self esteem is probably the reason most stay in abusive relationships. This has become an epidemic in my area. My wife and I have seen first hand the brutality many women suffer at the hands of their partners. She has enlisted many volunteers who have offered to provide a temporary refuge for these women. We are now in negotiation with several commercial property owners to make available, space for these battered women. Many trades people have offered their services and material to modify the buildings so that each will have a private and secure environment. A local security company has offered 24/7 security free of charge once everything is set up. It's a beginning.

@ed...The effort put forth by you and your wife and others, will certainly help at least some of those women, get out, stay out and hopefully begin working on a new life. Don't be dismayed when you hear about the ones who "return", after all the help they have been offered. That happens, but don't give up on them. It sometimes takes 3 or 4 attempts and MANY never leave permanently. My personal thanks to all of you, on their behalf.

Ed, What you and your wife are doing is wonderful. What a wonderful way to give back to your community. Many abused women, even if they do get out and stay out find themselves alone without any support what so ever. It is people like you and your wife who really make a difference and provide hope.
