I was recently sold, over the phone, an item called an Electricity Saving Box. The gentleman who sold it to me was an exceptionally skilful high-pressure salesman, and he promised that it could reduce my bills by up to 40%, by eliminating spikes. 'Up to' is a bit of a warning light, but at a mere £100, I'd be more than happy if it could manage 14%, and not too displeased if it was only up to 4%. It duly arrived, I plugged it in, a green light came on. Now, have I been sold a pup? The barcode

Well, I suppose if it does something they can make amazing claims on t.v........
Look at it like this, if you can't get your money back at least it will pay for it's self in the next ten years or so...
Hopefully you can make a complaint to the BBB if you have one in England and warnt the future buyers of this item. Otherwise you could do a blog on the product.

Hm...every appliance you have is still going to need to draw the same amount of electricity, as that's just the way they were designed to operate most efficiently. Do they offer a money back guarantee?! It sounds extremely suspicious to me, but I'm not exactly an electrical engineer either. It does however sound to me as though you weren't just sold a pup, but perhaps a whole litter of them!
