ask your Dr. to let you talk to the dietician at the hospital. Or , see if the hosp has classes for new kidney patients

Potassium must be carefully monitored for those with renal disease. Your monthly bloodwork will include potassium levels. You may be prescribed a tablet to chew before eating, which is something that will help the potassium pass through your system.
Do NOT take the threat of too much potassium lightly. It is a huge issue for renal patients.
My mom has been a dialysis patient for 6+ years, so I know of what I speak on this.
